Dr. Roy is a subspecialist physician in Critical Care Medicine, an academic in expedition and high altitude medicine, and an award-winning inventor. He studied Medicine at McGill University, Internal Medicine at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Calgary. He holds three medical post-graduate Diplomas in Mountain Medicine as well as a Diploma in Remote & Offshore Medicine. In addition to his medical studies, he studied Neuroscience at McGill University, Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence at Columbia University. He sits on the Executive Committee of the International Society for Mountain Medicine, the Medical Commission of the International Commission of Alpine Rescue, the Medical Committee of the UIAA, the Education & Training Committee of the Aerospace Medical Association, the Research Committee of the Wilderness Medical Society, and is a member of the Society for Decision Making Under Deep Uncertainty. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada.
