Complex Projects Emergent Behaviour Phenomena

The aim is to investigate various theories and elements that are and can be relevant to system emergent behaviour in complex meta systems.

Basic theory and research on judgment, decision, and choice are the starting point for general systems of systems (S0S) framework.

This research is in emergent behaviour phenomenon to minimise the occurrence of failure in complex engineering project. How to manage emergent behaviour phenomenon in system of systems project management. There is a difference between system of systems project and traditional projects. For the System of Systems project management, the requirements are emerging. The emergence exists in the project mainly due to the unclear of the project elements that cause the complication. In the search for indicators or that can serve as early warning signs, we need to look at sources describing factors of project success and failure. In the project management literature one can find descriptions of so-called project success factors, or sometimes their inverse, project pitfalls. The emergence exists in the project mainly due to the unclear of the project elements that cause the complication.

‘Emergent behaviour in the battle management system (BMS)’

Abstract

This introduces SoS emergent behaviour phenomenon. The emergent behaviour in BMS is not based on a priori knowledge. The knowledge is independent of experience and it is difficult to clearly recognise, analyse, and validate where the emergent behaviour exists. Systems with large numbers of components and intricate interactions are pervasive; examples include natural systems ranging from animal flocks to socio-ecological systems, as well as sophisticated artificial systems such as the Internet and social networks. These systems, commonly termed as complex adaptive systems (CAS), exhibit behaviours from non-linear spatio-temporal interactions among a large number of components and subsystems (Kaisler & Madey, 2009). These interactions may lead to properties, often termed as emergent properties or emergence, that are not derivable from the properties of individual components.

‘Cyber-physical systems and emergent behaviour phenomenon’

Abstract

The term Cyber-Physical System (CPS) refers to a new generation of systems with integrated computational and physical capabilities that can interact with humans through many new

modalities. CPSs link cyberspace with the physical world through a network of interrelated elements, such as sensors and actuators, robotics, and computational engines. These systems are highly automated, intelligent, and collaborative. CPS examples include energy neutral buildings, zero-fatality highways, and personalised medical devices. CPS requires detailed modelling of the dynamics of the environment and a clear understanding of the interaction between the dynamics of the embedded system and its environment.
