POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE at MIT-IDSS to conduct research in the group led by Professor of the Practice, Christopher L. Magee. Possible areas of investigation will be those compatible with the research needs of ongoing projects within the group. These areas include invention and its influence on quantitative measures of technological progress, theory of invention and the variation of inventive impact among technological domains, the relationships between technological change and the diffusion of products containing technologies that are changing, and the emergence of technological discontinuities (objective measurement, objective connections of technological discontinuities to developments in science, or development of a falsifiable predictive theory for the emergence of important technological discontinuities).
REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in an engineering discipline, a science discipline, economics, or a closely related field; proven statistical and analytical skills; additional experience and deep interest in technological change and completed prior research in the field; excellent oral and written communication skills; and the ability to interact effectively with faculty and staff at all levels. Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and attentive to detail.
This is a one-year position with possibility of extension. May start as early as May 2016.
