We offer: A fully funded Postdoc position within a cutting-edge research project and training with leading experts in the fields of computational social science and complex systems. We offer a position for an initial period of two years with a salary according to Austrian standards. The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role in an already funded project, designing, managing, executing, and publishing research in collaboration with PhD students and faculty. The position is tied to the Vienna Research Group “Emotional Well-Being in the Digital Society“ and the successful candidate will work in collaboration with computer scientists, social scientists, and physicists to understand emotions, suicide, and health through digital traces.
We search for: Excellent creative and highly motivated scientists with a PhD in a discipline related to Computational Social Science (e.g. computer science, psychology, network science). The candidate must have high interest in multidisciplinary research, a genuine interest in human behavior, and a critical, open-minded and collaborative spirit.
Your profile: You must be within the first four years of research experience after completion of your PhD degree; you must be proficient in the English language both written and spoken. Good knowledge and experience in modelling and statistical analysis is required. Experience in programming languages for data retrieval and statistics (for example python and R) as well as formal education in the social sciences will be considered a plus.

We are: The Section for Science of Complex Systems is a research group working in the theoretical foundations of complexity and its applications within the Medical University of Vienna. This position will be in collaboration with the research group lead by David Garcia (http://dgarcia.eu), which is part of the Section for Science of Complex Systems. The Complexity Science Hub Vienna is a joint initiative of AIT, IIASA, Danube University Krems, IMBA, Medical University of Vienna, TU Graz, TU Wien, Vienna University of Economics and Business, and WKO. The objective of the hub is to host, educate, and inspire complex systems scientists who are dedicated to collect, handle, aggregate, and make sense of big data in ways that are directly valuable for science and society. Focus areas include smart cities, innovation dynamics, medical, social, ecological, and economic systems.
