A postdoctoral position is available to join the team for the project

Nonlinear interactions and information transfer in complex systems with extreme events

led by Milan Palus (www.cs.cas.cz/mp).

The research will be oriented to causality (mainly using tools from information theory) in complex systems with extreme events/ heavy tailed distributions, with applications in climate research.

The candidates should have obtained their PhD after December 2013 (maternity, parental and sick leave can be taken into consideration) in computer science, mathematical or physical sciences with background in one or more of the following areas: applied information theory (estimation of information-theoretic functionals from real data), nonlinear dynamics and time series analysis, Earth and climate science (experience with large instrumental and model datasets).

The position is full-time from February 1, 2019 (starting date is negotiable) until January 31, 2020 with possible extension until December 31, 2021.

Gross salary is 36000 – 40000 CZK/month (see https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/comparison.jsp). There are no teaching duties and there is support for travel. The position is in the beautiful city of Prague at the Institute of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
