Research Associate / Postdoctoral Fellow, Modeling Solar Energy Adoption

Support research and development activities within the National Priorities Research Program project on Modeling Solar Energy Adoption (NPRP9-063-5-007) funded by the Qatar National Research Fund.

Key result areas

  • Design and implement computational models of renewable energy systems that integrate technical, social and economic factors.
  • Design and implement knowledge bases relevant to models of renewable energy systems.
  • Collect and analyze data relevant to models of renewable energy systems.
  • Support the design and implementation of web applications to make available computational models of renewable energy systems as decision support software platforms.
  • Support the evaluation of renewable energy decision-support systems in real-world application scenarios with stakeholders.
  • Document the technical work carried out in internal reports and refereed publications.
  • Participate in project management and coordination activities.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge & experience in the area of agent-based modeling.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy economics and policy.
  • Strong background in software engineering and computer programming.
  • Experience in data acquisition methods and data mining.
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Information/Computer Science with focus on renewable energy, or equivalent.
