-- ESSENTIAL SYSTEM SCIENCE ENCYCLOPAEDIA (ESSE) –

ESSE is under construction and will be structured in about 200 items/entries. Among the key items: system complexity, differentiation, environment, communication, self organization, self reference, structural coupling, constructivism and items referred to key scholars such as Luhmann, von Foerster, von Glasersfeld etc.

Contributors are fee to submit items they consider pivotal to understand System Sciences. deadline to submit the fully written proposed item(s) is September 1st 2010.

Each entry/item would be of about 2500 words. You can choose one or more entries (up to 5 per author) among those listed below and /or choose some from the list and propose other (total 5 entries, anyway).

Each item ,concerning an abstract concept such as "system " or " complexity" should be structured according to the following pattern : a)definition(s) of the item from the perspective of the social system theory

b)etimology

c)translations of the term in the other key languages

d)accurate explanation

f)very key references / essential bibliography while items concerning authors , such as Luhmann or Pask have to be structured as follows:

a) short bio

b) key concepts

c) key works they authored and brief summaries of their contents

d) brief explanation of the author's contribution to system theory

e) key references about the author
